After 20 years in their beloved family home in Capalaba, southeast Queensland, Maggie and Mike Abrams made the emotional decision to “rightsize.”

“We loved our home, but with health challenges and the upkeep, it just became too much,” Maggie said. “Our weekends were spent at Bunnings trying to keep up with repairs. The pool turned into a swamp – we even had to hire a gardener just to stay on top of it.”

Determined to find something more manageable, the couple searched high and low for three years. Then they visited Beaudesert – and everything changed.

“We’d never been before, but the drive into Millers Glen was stunning – rolling hills, so green and peaceful. It reminded us of country Victoria where we grew up. I felt connected straight away,” Maggie said.

Millers Glen is an Over 50s land lease community by Ingenia Lifestyle, offering residents the privacy of their own home with a strong sense of community and support.

“It had everything we needed – shops, doctors, even the hospital nearby. But what really sold us was the safety and the people,” Maggie added.

Before moving, Maggie had a fall at home and waited hours for an ambulance. At Millers Glen, a similar incident was quickly resolved.

“I called the onsite office and two staff members came straight away. I feel so much safer here,” she said.

The couple has also found something they didn’t expect – a social life.

“We’ve met more people in five months than we did in 20 years at Capalaba,” Maggie said. “The community is so welcoming and friendly. We’ve joined social clubs, and the events have been a great way to connect.”

Millers Glen’s newly opened sports precinct includes a swimming pool, pickleball courts, spa, bowling green and a social pavilion – fast becoming the heart of the community.

With a choice of modern two- and three-bedroom homes, Millers Glen offers more than just a place to live – it’s a lifestyle that supports health, happiness, and connection.

“We’ve finally found our place,” Maggie said.
