The first residents to move into RetireAustralia’s The Green in Tarragindi, a southern suburb of Brisbane, were Jeff and Judy Jones.
Both aged 75, they have lived more than half their lives in Tarragindi, and with Jeff Jones Real Estate, now being run by their sons Craig and Matt, they could not resist the pull of the new $80 million vertical village in their suburb.
They love their six grandchildren, who live nearby in Tarragindi and Salisbury, and the real estate business is also a short drive away at Stones Corner.
“We knew eventually we would need to make the move into some sort of retirement village, so when we heard about The Green, we were keen right from the get-go,” Judy said.
“While we don’t have any health issues or need help at this stage, we thought it would be better to make the move as we couldn’t see another village like it coming to Tarragindi any time soon.”
Jeff said they loved the accessibility Tarragindi provided with four hospitals on their doorstep, easy access to the motorways and short distance to the city.
“We had looked at other sites and places. We couldn’t get away from the fact this was at Tarragindi – that was obviously a big attraction, and we also thought The Green offered us more amenities than any of the other places we looked at.”
Hutchinson Builders constructed The Green vertical village, which has 94 apartments for independent living . There is a diverse range of amenities on offer, including a community garden, cinema, gym, library, bowls green, a bar, workshop, and restaurant.
“The design of the complex, the landscaping, the facilities – it just all fitted together so well,” said Jeff.
