Graham Stanley met Karen and Michael Stewart after they offered him a seat at their table.
Five years later, the “Three Musketeers” are buying homes in the same new community.
Graham Stanley entered an over-50s community in Logan as a newly single man who wondered whether he belonged there.
Karen and Michael Stewart are moving with Graham to GemLife Kilcoy Greens, where the three will begin the next stage of their lives as neighbours.
The friendship started at one of Graham’s first community gatherings. Surrounded by couples and feeling out of place, he telephoned his son and said he was returning to the coast.
Before he could go, Karen and Michael invited him to their table.
“Until five years ago, we didn’t know Graham and Graham didn’t know us,” Karen said. “But now he’s just our mate.”
The three discovered a shared enthusiasm for travel. Graham encouraged the Stewarts to buy a caravan, and they began exploring Australia together.
“We’re like the Three Musketeers,” Karen said.
Now the Three Musketeers are moving house together.
