The former Penrith Panthers’ Premiership winner, who represented NSW and Australia, finished his third annual walk at the Panthers for the home match with NRL arch rivals Melbourne Storm last night.

The esteem 64-year-old Royce is regarded was evident at all eight NRL clubs he visited: Parramatta Eels, Manly-Warringah, Sydney Roosters, South Sydney, St George Illawarra, Cronulla-Sutherland, Canterbury-Bankstown, and Wests Tigers.

He has been a resident, along with wife Laine, at the Tulich Group’s The Royce, run by Bianca Tulich, not long after it opened in 2019. After being diagnosed with dementia in 2021, Royce started Royce’s Big Walk in 2022, all in the name of raising money for dementia research in Australia.

Simmons and his support crew of former Wests Tigers players John Skandalis, Pat Richards and Chris Lawrence walked 300km in 10 days.

The Royce Simmons Foundation’s focus is on advancing research towards finding a cure for dementia.
